Every thumb print tells a different story. Every story deserves to be heard.

At Liberty, our vision is to create a mosaic that encompasses race, socio-economics, gender and age. We believe our differences can be our strength. What makes you different?

The Bible describes the church as a body, with each part having a different function and design. (Romans 12:4-6). At Liberty, we honour the fact that we cannot all look or act the same because we were created for different purposes. In fact, we intentionally engage a diverse community to reach our goal of a well-functioning spiritual family.

How Liberty Embraces Diversity in our Community

  • Cultural Diversity: Liberty International Church chose “international” as part of its name because Toronto is made up of many nations of immigrants - their languages, customs, dress and food. Liberty has a unique flavour - you feel it as soon as your walk in our doors!
  • Age Diversity: The Liberty congregation is multi-generational; we benefit from the vitality of children and the wisdom and stability of our older members. Being multi-generational makes us stronger, such as the differences between baby boomers and millennials.
  • Socio-Economic Diversity: We believe it is God’s heart to have the poor and the rich worshiping together. At Liberty, it’s not unusual for doctors to sit beside homeless people - learning, laughing and growing together.
  • Gender Diversity: We like to laugh at the funny differences between men and women - but the reality is that male and female perspectives complement each other and make our social fabric richer and deeper; Acts – Mary/Martha
  • Family Status Diversity: Whether single or married, widowed or divorced, Liberty welcomes the learning that each person brings to our community. I Corinthians 7

5 Biblical Reasons to Value Diversity

At Liberty, it doesn’t matter what your background… doesn’t matter what you have done, or where you have been… we want you to be comfortable to be yourself – and let you gifts shine through!

1. Different people teach us to be selfless.

2. Different people teach us to see our blind spots.

3. Different people expand our ability to love.

4. Different people can simplify our faith. (Acts 15:6-11)

5. Heaven reflects diversity.
