Giving to God With our Hearts… and More

OK, so we all know that money is a touchy subject – especially when it’s our own money. But the truth is that the Bible has a lot to say about people and their money; it contains more than 2,000 verses on the subject - teaching us that our money is connected with our commitment and relationship with God.

God doesn’t need our money: what He wants is our hearts – and when we give him our finances, we are letting him to take control of our lives.

Maybe you are new to whole church scene and are uncomfortable with the idea of giving to a religious organization. We want you to know that you can check us out as long as you wish and never feel obligated to give. We will never pressure you – we want people to give because they want to.

What the Bible says about ‘tithing’

Just by way of explanation for all you budding theologians out there – here is the reason we believe it is scriptural to give:

The Old Testament describes tithing as people giving 10 percent of their income, which back then could mean a whole lot of different things - such as animals or even crops.

In the Old Testament, the people attributed their prosperity as a direct result of their giving:

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:10)

To remain relevant today, the tithe is an expression of our worship to God through obedience (and we usually don’t accept any live animals!).

In the New Testament, while the theological concept of tithing is not mentioned, it is implied that everything we have belongs to God, and therefore we should give out of a joyful and thankful heart.
