Leadership Skills Training for Older Teens

The “LiFE Internship” program at Liberty International Church is a one-year program is designed for students 16 to 19 years of age that will challenge them to discover who they were created to be. Primarily a leadership training program, it requires all of your heart, strength, and mind - and demands commitment and sacrifice.

We believe however, that this challenging work will not be without reward. Each day, students will have the opportunity to gain a clearer picture of who they are.

The program has four components that are focused on during different times of the year:

1. Discipleship: Your relationship with Jesus will be nurtured and developed with:

• Bible study
• Scripture memory
• Book study
• Mentorship

2.  Service/Leadership: Growing in service and leadership are the marks of anyone in pursuit of a close relationship with God. Each member of the program will be required to:

• Serve in the “Awaken Youth” ministry
• Serve in Liberty’s Sunday Morning Experience [Link to the Sunday Morning Experience page]
• Every member will be trained in leadership, and required to begin leading in a specific area of ministry.

3.  Life Skills/Self-Knowledge: Each participant will have a good understanding of who they are and where they are going. We will ensure this happens through:

• Aptitude testing with follow-up
• Personality tests (such as Myers-Briggs)
• Team-building exercises
• Assessments of strengths and weaknesses
• Goal setting
• Keynote speakers on life skills issues
• Presentations on life skills issues

4.  Experience: Our goal is provide positive experiences that broaden student’s perspective on life, as well as to provide opportunities that you wouldn’t get anywhere else. Some examples:

• Meeting executives from Fortune 500 companies
• Going on a retreat away from the cities
• Being a camp counselor
• Missions trips

What is Required to Become a “LiFE Intern” at Liberty

You might be asking how do I qualify for this program and what will be required of me when I join? You must be…

• 16 years or older
• Willing to passionately pursue Jesus
• Able to attend Youth Group on Friday by 6 p.m
• At church on Sundays by 9:30 a.m.
• Willing to be part of a group study during the week (time to be determined as a group)
• Willing to contribute to the team.
