Teen Summer Camp
Christian Camps Offer Friendship, Fun and Leadership Development
Every summer during the second week of July, teenagers from Liberty International Church - along with hundreds of students from across Ontario - converge at Braeside Camp located in Paris, Ontario for an amazing, life-transforming week.
The teen summer camp is run by the youth ministry department of the Western Ontario District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
The one-week camp is jammed packed with a variety of fun and engaging activities, but most of all it is a week where students are given the opportunity to experience God in new and powerful ways.
In the Words of our Teenage Campers
Here is what just a few of many teens are saying about their time at Braeside Camp:
“All in all I believe this place is similar to one of the seven wonders of the world, because you are free to worship God and have fun through playing team games and going to services - which will give you plenty of time to speak to God and discover his plans for your destiny.”
- Tremar Parkinson, 17
“Youth camp was a blast, it was a life-changing experience. It was my first time going to youth camp and I didn’t know what to expect. I had been told that it very enjoyable and makes you grow spiritually. To be honest, before camp I was a bit skeptical about my faith in God, I believed in him but sometimes I thought it was just too much. There were times when I felt like giving up on religion in my life. Times when you go to a school full of people who are not religious, and you afraid to show you are a believer of God.
All this has changed after camp - just seeing people my age who are believers and are not ashamed, because really and truly there is nothing to be ashamed of. Camp has just made me a stronger person in believing in what I what, just to stand up for myself. Sometimes holding back because of the fear of what people think about you can hold you back from a lot.
Camp has also made me more appreciative of the life and family that I have, because my life could have been a lot worse. So now I thank the Lord for making me who I am, and I live my life to the FULLEST. I’m also grateful for being apart of Liberty International Church because if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have gone through this whole experience, so I am quite thankful.”
- Nokuthula Tuso, 16
“Braeside is one of the most spiritually filled places I know. When I’m back here in the city, around all these flashing lights and distraction, I find it hard to communicate with God, but when I’m at camp it is so much easier because you’re more focused into what you came here for. Once you’re in that sanctuary, the power of God just fills you whether you decide to take it or not his spirit just find his way in to our hearts.
– Kishmar Hunte, 16
“In life, people sin and you start to drift away - but Braeside kind of “slaps” you in the face and pulls you back. It makes you realize how much you need God and how great He is. I don’t think my faith would be so strong without having that place, a place to go to where His presence is just so strong and so amazing… What does Braeside mean to me? It means everything, choosing between a life of sin and a life living for Jesus.
- Katherine Savage, 16
