Better Is One Day

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Welcome to Day 1 of the 30-Day Psalms & Proverbs Challenge.  This is going to be a great way for us toread the Word of God together and comment on what God is saying to us.  So follow along, if you miss a day- don’t give up, just pick it up and join us the next day.

Today’s Reading:  Theme-Blessing, Passage Psalm 67, 72,84, 128 & Proverbs 1 - Here’s the link to the reading plan.

S- Scripture: Psalm 84:1-12 How lovely is your dwelling place O LORD Almighty!  My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God….10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere…

O-Observation:  The language of the Psalmist is very poetic and descriptive.  The language brings to mind the passion of the writer and one who is indeed thankful of the blessings of the Lord.

A- Application: This Psalm reminds me to enjoy the beauty of creation and the blessings God has bestowed upon me as I continue to trust in God and rest in his blessings.  It also reminds me that my passion for the presence of God is something that will provide rest as I recognize how awesome God’s presence is, and his favour is in my life.

P- Prayer: God thank you for offering a sanctuary for me to find rest and blessings in your presence.  May I yearn and long for those moments of being in your glory, and may I continue to make priority to find time to spend in your courts.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Here’s a video of a song I was thinking of from Matt Redman entitled “Better is One Day”  it’s a great inspirational song as you meditate on God’s Word today.

Be Blessed, Your comments are welcome!
