Thanks thru Suffering
Sunday, October 3rd, 2010Reading: Psalm 27, 36, 71, 125 / Proverb 3
SCRIPTURE:
You have allowed me to suffer much hardship but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. Psalm 71:20
OBSERVATION:
This verse really spoke to me about trusting the Lord in all circumstances. When reading the first few lines, “You allowed me to suffer much hardship…” it was like the lightbulb went off above my head and I realized that - yes my Heavenly Father has and will continue to make me endure challenges, difficulties, and hardships in my life. Of course this is not to be mean or cruel; he allows me to suffer so I can learn to depend on him even more…. so I can seek his guidence to get out of my difficult situation. It’s great to know that my suffering and the hardships I face will go on and on forever, no he has a plan to restore me, and the verse following indicates that he will not just restore me but will actually restore me to an even greater honor!
APPLICATION:
I’m remided by this scripture to be thankful to the amazing God I serve in every situation, but even more so when I am suffering. It’s easy to give thanks when life is going well, and everything is looking great…but I recognize that when I have a hardship I need to be thank God. Thank him for being right there with me through the situation, and be thankful that my God will not only restore me from it but offer a better restoration than I deserve.
PRAYER:
Father God please forgive me for the many times that I was ungrateful, and failed to give you thanks for all you have already done. Help me to remember this scripture when I am struggling with lifes challenges, and give me the courage to share this passage with others facing hardships. Amen!
That’s it for now, have a blessed week! Nina C
